So, as part of Marci's graduation present we got her her very own rockin' rockin' pony!! This was the gift of a lifetime and she immediately used it as part of a Seminary devotional that next morning. (Ask her about her friend Tyler racing with her around the room and the church to the song "Win the Race".)
Anyway, Taryn had brought her own pony up to Redmond when we visited last week and had told us that she was excited to race Aunt Marci. Just as an FYI-Taryn has named her pony "Cauly-Pony" or maybe "Cawly-Pony." Colly-Pony?? You get the idea.
And they're lined up at the starting line...looks like Marci is in it to win...no special treatment for Taryn just because she's 3!

Taryn carefully explained to Aunt Marci how these ponies work. When you push an ear the pony starts making clip-clop noises. These last for a stretch and then the pony (okay, you can see it's really a unicorn, but everyone just kind of pretends it's not) starts to neigh. At that point, the rider must pull up on the reins and stop riding. As you can see, Marci got the picture.
I think it's safe to say that the race was a tie. What Taryn lacked in speed (Marci won the footrace), she made up for in style and general cuteness points. Sorry, Marc--you're really cute, though. After that first intense race, Taryn and Paige and then all of the other cousins got to ride the ponies. Maybe we'll have to buy some acreage so Cawly-Pony can get some exercise.

Oh--just a funny thing--last night was our youth spaghetti dinner and auction. At one point Jackson pointed to a member of the young men's presidency (Bro. Nilsen) and said, "Wow, mom! Look, he's a police officer." He was in awe at the thought of having a policeman at church...until I explained that Bro. Nilsen was wearing a Boy Scout uniform. It made me chuckle.

We had our youth auction on Friday night. We won the break-the-fast-brownies for 6 months! I'm so excited.
YES! I am so glad to see these pictures of my pony on your blog! I can now save them and do with them what I'd like! Also... a note to anybody else who reads these comments, my pony is lacking a name... do you have any ideas? PLEASE help me name my pony!
Wow...a regular Kentucky Derby at grandma pengwen's place! How fun!
Marci,
I recommend Jerbo. It isn't quite Cauly-Pony or Petrie Star, but I think it sounds tough, but fast--the two most important qualities for a racin'-rockin'-pony. Or if it's a girl pony, how about Flindy?
